    Thanks, I will try there!

    Michigan (US) - Northern Harrier?

5th edition is the same as the 4th, 6th edition has the Merlin in "Migration range in spring and autumn" for Michigan. The Stokes Field Guide to the Birds of North America (2010) agrees with this as well.

    Check out this Thrasher's beak/bill

KC, you should report this... Where was this bird located?

Pentax DCF SF 8x43 binoculars - any good

Wow, I appologize, I just rechecked my 8x32s, there is no rolling ball, for me there is excessive pincushion though. (Serves me right for relying on my memory!)

Hmm... What a difference a day makes... I will still be returning them, I can't deal with the balance, they are VERY, VERY front heavy! The focuser however is a lot better, I worked it in for a little while and it is much less spongy/rubbery feeling and the backlash is much less now. The focuser...

    Which sub-£300 8x42 or 10 x 50?

Ok, they arrived a short while ago, and I will most likely be returning them. I had high hopes judging by the reviews I have read, but I ended up disappointed. The following are a few of the issues I had right away: Balance... They are VERY front heavy. I don't mind weight at all, my primary...

Why does Nikon make the best binoculars in the world?

I'm relatively new on this forum, could someone explain how to block/ignore certain users? For example, if I didn't want to even see a thread started by someone?

Just to confirm, I am speaking of the Theron Wapiti APO-ED version. (Thanks for pointing that out FrankD). Also, mwnold, fyi, when I ordered mine from predator optics, the quantity available was 0 for the 8x42, I placed the order anyway (on the 27th of January) and they shipped out today (the...

Will do, they are due to arrive on Feb 2nd... I'll try to get out an initial impression that day/night and follow that up after a week or two of use. I am also considering contacting Allbinos to see if they would be interested in reviewing my pair (depending on whether I keep them and whether I...

    Which sub-£300 8x42 or 10 x 50?

Maybe look into Theron Wapiti APO-ED, I have read some VERY good reviews, I have an 8x42 ordered, will give an opinion after I get them. They weigh 780g though. http://theronoptics.com/WAPITI_ED-APO_BINOCULARS_Z1.html US$349

ED binocular with minimal field curvature

You can find Pentax DCF ED 8x43 for around US$700, But if you want to save even more you can lose the ED glass and go with the DCF SP 8x43 for a very, very small increase in CA. DCF SPs can be found for around US$550.

ED binocular with minimal field curvature

Pentax DCF ED 8x43, very sharp, flat edge to edge although relatively narrow FOV (although, the entire FOV is excellent!). I recommend against the 8x32 though, not a very flat field in my experience.

Meopta Meostar 7x42; how yellow is yellow?

"The Meopta... display a slightly warm image tone. It is not adequate to talk of an image tint, however, since the bias towards yellow is tiny." http://www.holgermerlitz.de/kowa85x44.html

Pentax DCF SF 8x43 binoculars - any good

I did say excessive, but thinking about it now it's only excessive when compared to the 8x43. (In my eyes at least).

    New Vortex Razor?

Hmm, good observation! Interesting, so it seems Eagle Optics is more up to date then Vortex Optics... This is getting very interesting! And also these on Eagle Optics but not on Vortex Optics (not 8x32 anyway): http://www.eagleoptics.com/binoculars/vortex/vortex-diamondback-8x32-binocular

    New Vortex Razor?

It has to be the wrong image on the Eagle Optics website (it also appears CGI)... http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-razor-hd-8x42-binocular Although I do like the look of the one in the Eagle Optics image!

Pentax DCF SF 8x43 binoculars - any good

I have a pair of Pentax DCF SP 8x32 and a pair of Pentax DCF ED 8x43... The specs are the same for the DCF SP 8x43 as the DCF ED 8x43 apart from a tiny bit more weight for the DCF ED, more brightness for the DCF ED and a tiny bit more CA for the DCF SP (and I mean TINY BIT MORE for both!). The...

    Greetings from Rhode Island, USA

Went down there this afternoon actually, still on island rocks, watched it for about half an hour before he swooped down behind the rocks. This was the first time I had been to Sachuest Point NWR, very nice down there although I was surprised that there were more walkers than there were birders...
