    Hi Mike, Bukit Tinggi is an easy trip from KL and the traffic shouldn't be too much of a problem early morning. The site is freely accessible and you don't really need a guide as it's a small site with clear, wide paths and lots of overlooks (worthwhile for eye-level views of canopy species)...

    There is, but it doesn't mean "being (100%) immune" as is often implied/misunderstood. It's simply the process of fortifying the immune system through exposure (to the pathogen itself or some derivative, like a vaccine). Either way, the OP is unlikely to face any restrictions anywhere.

    I certainly see them more in my local area (edge of the New Forest) than when I moved here, 14 years ago. Prevalence seems strongly habitat dependant.     Closest to Rvk I've seen WTE was Hvalfjordur, Gyrfalcon only once in the city and a few times near Grindavik (all winter records). I recommend walking the coastal path from the harbour area to Seltjarnarnes. The scenery is nice (views of Snaefell on a clear day!) and you'll see lots of gulls...

    Joining the relaunch of the UK Patchwork Challenge (excited about that). Keeping a casual 10 km local area list as well to add a but of variety. And I'll try to focus more on green, slow, local birding experiences - my life is busy enough as it is!

    Same here, Steve. I've only done a "proper" year list once, and driving around chasing rarities started to annoy me towards the end. Switching back to patching in 2023, and using travel opportunities for work to see things I haven't seen before.

    Sounds like a great day, and Holy Island is a lovely place - but rarity hunting is sort of the opposite of what I was after (although it can be plenty of fun in its own way). The relaxed wader watching in evening light, that's more like it :)
