    Blue tit nesting box

Personally I would leave it now. I usually empty all my nest boxes in the winter. I think it could be a bit late to start interfering with them now.

    clever Robin

I saw a blackbird the other week that was hovering like a hummingbird to get grubs from the cracks in the garden wall!!! I don't think the Wren will be very pleased if she sees this going on!!

    Is this normal?

Ditto. I am green with envy...........I need a new camera!!!!! Anyway, the Mrs Spawk that visits my garden has been nicknamed the Smiling assasin! As she quite often sits on top of my daughters swing for 1-2 hours. She will stay put and let all the little birds feed away happily while she...

Does anyone recognise this bird dropping??

OK OK I'll just have to settle for duck won't I?? I was kinda hoping for something a little more exotic than a duck!! When they poop in the front garden it looks like they are trying to 'whitewash' the path!! The back garden is actually alot bigger than it looks, that was just the lower patio...

Does anyone recognise this bird dropping??

OK here we go, don't know if it is too clear but the birdtable is the dark green one. It is only about 2 foot from the back window! What do you think??

Does anyone recognise this bird dropping??

OK, I will take a photo of the exact location of the table (still with poo) and see if you still think it is a duck!! Bear in mind that the back garden is very much enclosed!! I will be back shortly!!

Does anyone recognise this bird dropping??

Also I know it sounds a bit strange but I have studied this 'parcel' closely and it is a 'curl' similar shape to dog 'doings'!!!! And no, my dog can't jump that high!! :-O

Does anyone recognise this bird dropping??

The bird table is about 5 1/2 foot tall and the roof is apex!!! I can't see a duck standing on there!!

Does anyone recognise this bird dropping??

We get the ducks from the river in the front garden (they even knocked me up out of bed one Saturday morning!!!) This 'dropping' is far too firm to have come from them!!! :D

Does anyone recognise this bird dropping??

My father-in-law says it is about the size of an old silver dollar, hope that helps.

Does anyone recognise this bird dropping??

I suppose you could say Urban!! Very close to a river, over my back fence is a large park area lined with lots of large trees. Also not too far away is 'The moss'.

Does anyone recognise this bird dropping??

I actually heard an owl on Friday night, Tawny I think from its call. Never heard one before near the house. Also where the bird table is situated we get mice (clearing up the leftover bird seed). I didn't mention the owl earlier as I wanted some guesses first. Never seen a Turkey in the...

Does anyone recognise this bird dropping??

Hi, I found this 'dropping' on the roof of one of my bird tables today. It is really big, I have placed a £2 coin next to it so that you can compare the size. I was wondering if anyone could confirm which bird parted with it?? The bird table is very close to the house. Any info would be...

Bit of a laugh... Are you a Twitcher Questionnaire

Who feeds the birds for you when you are away on holiday?

My mother-in-law fills my feeders for me, she uses it as a good excuse to sit and watch them 'in peace'. She only has a small garden and her house is right off the main road, so she doesn't get half the different birds that I do. I think she would be upset if I asked her not to bother!!

    Can you recommend a guide?

Hi Helen, I am off to the Trafford Centre to pick up my tickets this week, do you think I will be able to get the guide from WHSmith? It is a reasonably large shop but at Christmas I couldn't even get an Oxford school dictionary for my eldest!! If not where is most likely to have it IN STOCK?

    Can you recommend a guide?

Thanks for the replies, The COLLINS BIRD GUIDE was the one I requested (birthday present) but ended up with the BRITISH version. I will now invest in the other, which was originally shown to me by Helenol. I didn't realise it covered so much!! Thanks again.

    Can you recommend a guide?

Hi all, I am off to Greece for 2 weeks pretty soon and am in need of a guide! It takes me all my time to ID most British birds ( being a newbie ) so I will be lost without one. The best I have is a collins, although it is the 'Complete British Birds' guide, so I don't suppose it will be much...

    Peanuts

Same goe's here Elizabeth. The only problem with not putting the peanuts out is that I end up with the grey squirrels trying to hang from the sunflower feeders instead. They have broke two in the last month, so I just leave a plate of peanuts out for them and they tend to steer clear of the...
