The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

Well.. you can spin and spin, and be glued into the rabbit holes of reviews, technical specifications, numbers, and chatter box. Round and round YOU go! OR, you can simply draw the glasses to your eyes... discover what enchants YOUR peepers the most! And then, just move along and enjoy the...

Leica Ultravid 8x20 dissection (The beauty)

That's what I love about Leica... the image has that special sparkle and the materials/fit/finish/mechanical quality are absolutely superb. I can certainly appreciate what Zeiss and Swaro offerings bring to the table, but neither of those have been able to displace my preference for Leica.

    Leica eye candy....

Yes... there is just something special about the view through Leica glass that is magnificent. No other binoculars have that. Zeiss are my next favorite binoculars, and I have a number of them, but Leica holds the top spot for me.

    Leica eye candy....

Did someone say "Leica's"? My favorite binoculars of the big 3 makers - by far. My trio are UVHD+ 8x32, 10x32, and 7x42. Here are two of the three:

    UVHD+ appreciation ~ my, how I do

No need to quit the forum. I just don't have any need to visit here much. As a musician, photographer, and RVer, I direct most of my time and attention to those pursuits.

    UVHD+ appreciation ~ my, how I do

I don't have a pair of NV, so not able to reply to that. I will say, however, that I experience no CA issues with any of my three UVHD+ binoculars. I have found myself in a wonderful state of contentment. I have no desire to purchase nor even explore any other binoculars. No "gas" nor even...

New Zeiss binos 8x40 SFL and 10x40 SFL

One of my Victory SF bins had a spot of slight roughness for the first day or so of use, then quickly smoothed out to the typically wonderful Zeiss focusing smoothness. I don't have any older UVHD bins, but my three fairly recent production (last few years) UVHD+ bins all have very smooth and...

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

Hi Paul! Yes, my friend. All of the binoculars we're considering are such excellent tools. Can't really go wrong with ANY of them! And of course, one need not spend $2500-$3000 to obtain superb, high quality binoculars. Conquest HD is a perfect example of this. I've had mine for going on...

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

mbb.... I have something of an embarrassment of riches. I have more binoculars than I really need. I do have numerous places around the house from which I can use binoculars, so I have them stashed around here and there. But in the end, you are right... I can certainly let go of some of my...

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

What a great thread! Here's my informal take on three well-known 8x32 roof prism binoculars. I spent about 10 days closely comparing three 8x32s: NL, SF, and UVHD+. Image sharpness was so close among the three that I was perfectly content with any of the three. However, the color quality...

New Bin GAS. Switch to SF from Conquest?

I spent about 10 days closely comparing three 8x32s: NL, SF, and UVHD+. Image sharpness was so close among the three that I was perfectly content with any of the three. However, the color quality, contrast, and color saturation was a major differentiator for me. Color quality is something...

New Zeiss binos 8x40 SFL and 10x40 SFL

Brock... the 8x32 Conquest HD has quite a fast and exceptionally smooth focuser... it is just exactly how I like them to be. Ultimately, I think it just comes down to one becoming accustomed to the speed of the focuser that they are using. I like them quick, so I'm accustomed to just making...

New Zeiss binos 8x40 SFL and 10x40 SFL

Yes, indeed. Arizona is largely very brightly lit, nearly every day. With some vast distance views and a great many mountains. 8x32 covers this wonderfully. No 42s needed except perhaps in the dim evening. A good part of the higher elevation area of the state is covered with a massive pine...

New Zeiss binos 8x40 SFL and 10x40 SFL

When doing carefully-done, side-to-side comparisons, differences (sometimes very minor) in the "view" (sharpness, color quality, field-of-view, glare resistance, etc.) can be found between various "higher end" binoculars... UVHD+, SF, SFL, NL, even including models like Conquest HD, etc. But...

New Zeiss binos 8x40 SFL and 10x40 SFL

The 7x42s have the great UVHD+ qualities that I appreciate, but I clearly prefer the 8x32 UVHD+ overall. I prefer the slightly extra reach with the 8x vs. 7x, and the slightly shallower depth-of-focus with the 8x make them a bit quicker to get sharp focus. And, I prefer the size/weight/form...

New Zeiss binos 8x40 SFL and 10x40 SFL

In my post, when I say the "view", that includes color quality, sharpness, field-of-view, glare resistance, etc. How pleased you are with what you see when you look through the binoculars. And when I say "feel-in-the-hand", that includes size, weight, balance, focus wheel feel and...

New Zeiss binos 8x40 SFL and 10x40 SFL

I've tried them all and with the high-end of binoculars... SF, SFL, NL, UV-HD+, yada yada... they're all so good that in the end, it really just comes down to your own personal "feel-in-the-hand" and what the subjective quality of the "view" looks like - to you. You can't go by specs on paper...

Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32 vs. 8x42 for birding

I really get it, too. The Leica color quality. As I mentioned elsewhere in this forum, quite some time ago... they just give such a "delicious" visual taste to the viewed image. Is Leica's view the most "neutral" of the possible alternative options? Perhaps not. So what? In my view, I sure...

Are Leica UV HD+ 7x42 or 8x42 bins as punchy/contrasty as their 8x32 Ultravid HD + bins are?

Without looking, I think I've long since answered my own question regarding the magnificent view provided by the range of UVHD+ binoculars. Now having UVHD+ in 8x32, 10x32, and 7x42... yes! They're all fabulous. And that includes the focusers. I give the nod to Zeiss for the focuser quality...

    Monarch M7

As an "aside" regarding the Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32... the majority of users of this particular set of bins tend to be exceptionally impressed with this model, especially at the price point. Personally, as a user of several SF Victorys, and several Leica UVHD+ bins, I still remain an...

    Tale of 10x32 comparisons

A mystery is simply something that is difficult or impossible to explain or fully understand. It is an unknown. There doesn't have to be any more "superstition" attached to a mystery than any one individual chooses to impose upon it.

    Tale of 10x32 comparisons

Scott... yes, we have some amazing night sky views here - especially living out of the city in the desert. I'm amazed nearly every evening when I take the pups out. And I do spend some time imagining that galaxies go on and on, seemingly infinitely. Boggles the mind. Is the universe infinite...

    Tale of 10x32 comparisons

Looksharp65... well my friend, it's quite simple, really. Not at all complicated. I just enjoy having multiple binoculars (as with other things like multiple cameras, watches, guitars, firearms, knives, etc.) And fortunately, I'm able to afford a bit of relative duplication. I have...
