August is not the best time, but there are plenty of south of Catania area which presumably attract many migrating waders in August. The best are the Pantani Cuba and Longarini Nature Reserve, Priolo Nature Reserve and Vendicari Nature Reserve. You may also want to visit Mt Etna, where there...

Best place in Europe for a short birding trip in June?

Well the OP said the conference is at the end of June, so I would forget about the Mediterranean (speaking as a resident of it) and go for one of the northern European candidates e.g. Estonia, Finland, Poland. As others have said in early June you would have way more options.

I've been in Stuttgart for work over the past few days. The only potential WP 'tick' (or so I thought) which I could get was Yellow-headed Amazon, which I saw very easily. However, when I went to add it to my list I noticed that it is apparently not on the WP list anymore. I'm pretty sure it...

Hi everyone, I'll be in Cyprus for around 4 days in mid-July. It's will be a family holiday so I hope I can find some time for birding, probably early in the morning. The following is a list of potential lifers which should be around at the time: Cyprus warbler Cyprus scops owl Cyprus wheatear...

    Steppe Buzzard for the rest
  22. Gladiator96

    Bunting, Bulgaria.

Imo there's a good chance there's a decent sized pine bunting wintering population across the under-birded Balkans given the annual wintering populations in Italy and Greece.

Interesting bird heading out to sea from Herne Bay, August 2021, last year.

With all due respect there is no point discussing this photo.

    Your most surprising omission

The birding jargon for this is bogey bird. Mine is curlew (not common by any stretch of the definition but I definitely should have seen it by now).
