Cook Strait New Zealand, 6th March

From a recent holiday - well off patch for me so working from a Guidebook. Initial thought Sooty Shearwater, but bill too pale? So maybe Flesh footed Shearwater, but no evidence of flesh coloured feet. So maybe Westland Petrel? Stuck. Assistance appreciated.

That's great thanks, will go with Fluttering 👍

    New Zealand Shearwater

Taken off the ferry near Picton yesterday. Saw what looked like a Shearwater among a group of red billed gulls. Suspect Huttons or Fluttering. Help appreciated. Have included a pic with gulls in for size comparison

    Paihia, New Zealand today

Here is a pic of the same bird with what I believe is an ACD?

    Paihia, New Zealand today

I assumed this was an African Collared Dove but lack of neck ring, and peculiar beak shape leaves me pondering. Also looked a little smaller than the other AFD feeding nearby. Any thoughts?

    Algarve Gull

Taken in the Port in Sagres on a week or so ago. Is this a (pink legged) Yellow Legged Gull, or a Herring Gull?

    Algarve Gull

Taken this morning at Port do Baleeira in Sagres. My opinion is Great Black Backed, based on size (2nd pic has Yellow Legged (?) in front as size comparator), but Gulls not my forte so would appreciate confirmation/correction. Thanks.

    Algarve Seawatching

Taken off Carrapateira this morning. Firstly, just to confirm that these are Razorbills? I estimate 300 - 400 passed through in about 2 and a half hours. Interspersed with them (about 1 in 20) were what look like Puffins? and also a few groups on their own There appeared to be a few...

    Thanks both.

    Algarve Wader

Taken at first light this morning, so quality pretty poor I'm afraid. Lots of Redshanks around and a few Greenshanks, but this bird had a longer bill - I think I can detect a slight droop at the tip of the bill as well (in img 6238). Also a strong white forehead, so was wondering Spotted...

    Algarve Warbler

There was a young Subalpine there on the same day -

    Algarve Warbler

Yes could be subalpine, but I felt the wings looked too rusty in colour. But the lighting isn't great - I saw the bird, snapped one photo and it flew off, so I had no chance to watch it for any time. To me the eye doesn't look right for Sardinian.

    Algarve Warbler

Tidying up photos - missed this - taken 21st October at Ponta da Atalaia in Sagres. Only one photo and not particularly good. Suspect Spectacled, due to rust colouration on wings, but not patterned enough for Whitethroat. Head looks relatively big. Can't really make out the primary projection...

    Algarve Shearwaters

Taken this morning off Carrapateira. Pretty new to Seawatching so trying to pick up subtleties. Suspect these are all Balearic but from Collins, some of these may be candidates for Manx or Yelkouan. Any help would be appreciated.

    Algarve Seabird

Taken from the cliffs at Carrapateira this morning. Looks remarkably like a Brown Booby to me, but that would be a rare spot, so posting for confirmation?

    Another Algarve warbler

Thanks Alexander, in the field I thought Willow Warbler - I think you're right - not enough to convince otherwise. Will go with WW 👍

    Another Algarve warbler

Tidying up photos from the last visit. These were taken on 13th September at Boca do Rio. Lots of Willow Warblers there, so I think I just passed over these, but on reflection the legs look darker, so thinking Chiffchaff. But they don't appear here that early, so maybe Iberian Chiffchaff? The...

    Algarve Warbler

Taken today in Budens by the water treatment facility. Still having difficulty with these warblers - would guess Reed with this one, but confirmation/correction would be appreciated
