    Burrowing Owls

    We had a successful day digging holes for artificial burrows and removing non native plants at a Burrowing Owl reserve in Chino California. It was heartening to see the turnout of so many people willing to donate their time and to work really hard.

    Hmm, I used organic raw sugar for awhile, but have switched back to white cane sugar. it's scary that we could be hurting our Hummers.

    Gary, I realy want Virginia Rail. Mine is Merlin from yesterday. I also saw another lifer- Hooded Merganzer. There were three. Two males and a female. So beautuful!

    Has it been a good Waxwing winter in your area?

    We have Cedar Waxwings here in California. They tend to stay in large flocks and they like to eat fermented berries in trees and shrubs. I have been seeing them almost daily.
