Where are all the 8x32 SF reviews? After all the speculation...

I would like to revise the impression I relayed above. Re hue: I spent a lot more time with these, and I cannot rule out the yellow / green case is not in fact a correct color representation and my impression is due to having spent so much time with Swaros, that may, it appears, favor the blue...

Where are all the 8x32 SF reviews? After all the speculation...

My pair of these arrived today in 8x32 format. I recently sold the 8x32 EL's to try these out. I am familiar with the 10x42 SF and Zeiss here seems to have made a 32mm version of that binocular. Sharpness is outstanding and the color hue is indeed biased toward yellow. But that makes a nice...

Tripod/head combo for Swaro ATS 65

I have a few more days under my belt with the Sirui VA5 and a terrific tripod and couldn't be happier. I have no dampening problems and the action is completely smooth. Terrifically suited to this instrument. Anybody think it could handle an ~85mm?

    ATS 65 v 80 HD?

Thank you all. I am now extremely happy with the ATS 65. The answer to my puzzle is the same as the one I had with binoculars: you need at least two. I'm in Southern California and the heat makes mag over 40x or so not visually informative. But, man, today I was sweeping a field at 40x...

    ATS 65 v 80 HD?

Friends, I got a great deal on an ATS 65 and I am now using it profitably. Predictably, over ~40x or so the image darkens in daytime and over ~30x within an hour of sunset or heavy clouds. Question: any of you use the 80 and the 65 side by side? I can swap out my 65 for an 80 for an...

Tripod/head combo for Swaro ATS 65

It was the center column. I'm using a Sirui W-1204 - way overkill. But you can't extend the center column. I also used an extra long plate to balance the scope, but extended so far out over the head the vibrations were amplified. I put the column down, used the stock plate, tolerated a bit...

Tripod/head combo for Swaro ATS 65

Thanks all. I had the ATS 65 out today mated to a Sirui VA-5 and the vibration dampening was terrible. Ruined the experience. The eye relief on the 25-50 with my glasses was also intolerable. I'm returning the lens and getting a 30x fixed. But the head situation is depressing. I've read...

Thank you again. What about mating the 500AH to the ATS foot? That requires an adapter right?

Tripod/head combo for Swaro ATS 65

Friends - I have a Manfrotto MVH500AH and 190!Go head / tripod combo in the shopping cart for this new little scope, but would love your thoughts on what has worked and what hasn't - and why.

Lightest tripod / head : Swaro ATS 65

Everyone - may I please have your thoughts and suggestions on the lightest (yet stable) tripod and head combo for the Swarovski ATS 65? Idea being a set up which capitalizes upon the weight / size gains of the 65. Thank you!

    Spotting scope or mounted bins?

Chuck, How does one determine the age of a Kowa 833, say if one were purchasing on the used market. Relatedly, what are the revision "checkpoints" I should be aware of. E.g., with Swaro EL, pre 2011 not SV.

    Spotting scope or mounted bins?

Chuck, I will be making my first scope choice soon. What ~80mm objective scopes accept astro eyepieces to your knowledge? I'd love to have this double as my grab and go for my astronomy side.

    Spotting scope or mounted bins?

Thank you Chuck. I will not sell regardless. I'm working on the scope purchase now. I appreciate they are not commensurable.

    Spotting scope or mounted bins?

Thank you. Indeed I should continue to use. Your recollection holds: i've had it only 2 weeks. I'll continue to do mounted comparisons. I also clearly must learn to more precisely convey my questions vis-a-vis the image I perceive. I trust this will also improve with practice. My...
