Thanks, guys. And yes, it was last week when temps hit 90F. Unseasonably warm. And Pines have been reported on eBird for the hotspot recently though infrequently.

Not a warbler? metro-Boston MA US

At first I thought this bird had faint streaking on the sides and was a Pine Warbler, but looking at the pics I'm thinking it's a flycatcher of some sort. The other birds in the trees around it were Palm warblers and Yellow-rumped warblers.

KOS announces Kansas Birding Trails website

An effort of folks from the Kansas Ornithological Society and Kansas Dept of Wildlife and Parks has produced a new Kansas Birding Trails website. For those unfamiliar with Kansas, it's a big (almost) rectangular state in the middle of the lower 48 US. The site runs down why you might think...

    ?Red-naped? Sapsucker - metro-Denver

Thanks for the confirmations, guys. and just to be annoying, from my 7th edition of the NatGeo Birds of North America under Yellow-bellied Sapsucker: "Some have red tinge to nape." Though I've been given clues of what else to look for besides the red nape concerning the white in the back and...

    ?Red-naped? Sapsucker - metro-Denver

Ooops. Going back to my reading, it's the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker that has the full black border on the throat and the distinguishing item is the lack of a full black border for the Red-naped. Hmmm... still not sure if the Yellow-bellied ever has a red nape and if that's a definitive ID cue.

    ?Red-naped? Sapsucker - metro-Denver

Saw this bird yesterday and figured out it's a Sapsucker. It has a red nape, but not sure about the throat. Not sure if the white throat on females will also have the black border that's used as an ID cue for the red-throated males.

?Hybrid? Goose - metro Denver CO US

If you check the hybridbird blogpost on Snow x Cackling, your photos from Flickr are included and credited to you towards the end of the post. Looks like your photos and sketches are heavily cited in other write ups on waterfowl crosses there as well, which is a testament to the work and...

sparrow deep in the weeds - metro-Denver US

Taken this morning 22 Oct. Noticed this sparrow with a facial pattern that didn't look familiar to me, but couldn't get photos til it was deep in the tall grass along the edge of the pond. eBird shows Field, American Tree, Swamp as well as White-Crowned and Chipping among the unstreaked...

    ?warbler? - metro-Denver US

Taken this morning just at sunrise, so sorry if the photos seem dim. I'm not seeing wing bars and am seeing yellowish undertail. I am seeing a broken eyering and some faint facial markings and a grayish-white throat with a yellow belly. Looking at guidebooks, my guess is a McGillivray's...
