Celestron Regal 100M2 , any opinion?

You don’t know what you are talking about. I did contact Amazon and they do not refund your money or exchange defective items past 30 days. After 30 days it is between you and the manufacturer, ie. the manufacturer’s warranty. And the Celestron warranty is very clear. It is only invalidated if...

Celestron Regal 100M2 , any opinion?

I purchased the scope through Celestron’s Amazon store, not a third party. The defect appeared after the 30-day return window had closed. I didn’t go the warranty route right away because I assumed (wrongly) that the blacks specs were either dust on the lens or that I had scratched the lens...

Celestron Regal 100M2 , any opinion?

Haven’t used the Regal but my personal experience is to stay away from Celestron optics. I have had two defective Celestron scope’s in the last three years. The most recent is an Ultima 100 which after seven weeks of light use had antireflective coating flaking off onto the inside lens. A local...

    Celestron Ultima 100 defective

Just a heads up for those who are thinking of buying a Celestron Ultima 100 spotting scope through Amazon. I purchased this scope back in April through Celestron’s Amazon store. I only used it maybe half a dozen times, always carefully. In early June I noticed two black specs through the...

Newbie setting up digiscoping with dslr

I have an old Canon Rebel XT and a Celestron Ultima 100 spotting scope. I bought the Celestron t-ring for the Canon EOS model and it fit the camera easily. The Celestron comes with the adapter built in, so the directions on the Celestron website said you just slide the rubber off the eyepiece...

Meade Rangeview ED 20-60x 80mm spotting scope

Back to the topic. Still curious to know how Meade’s Rangeview ED at $350us (20-60x 80mm) compares to other similar spec ED scopes that cost twice as much. Would think that a scope with these specs at this price point would be a big deal. I can't find any reviews (customer or professional). We...

Meade Rangeview ED 20-60x 80mm spotting scope

So, Chinese optics company Meade is being sued for colluding with other Chinese optics companies by “American” optics company Orion who sources out it’s entire line to Chinese optics manufacturer, Synta. You need to be a detective to know who is suing who and where your optics are really being made!

Meade Rangeview ED 20-60x 80mm spotting scope

Thanks for the feedback. Not too concerned that they are made in China. Vortex, Celestron are made in China too and still put out fairly decent optics. Even Zeiss is sourcing some optics manufacturing to Asia. Just a reality of our global economy (as is pandemics, apparently). After I posted...

Meade Rangeview ED 20-60x 80mm spotting scope

Meade is asking $350us for this spotting scope, which is half the price for an ED glass scope. I’ve never heard of Meade before and I can’t find reviews for the Rangeview. Has anyone purchased the Rangeview? Would really appreciate some feedback...
