    Where'd They Go?

I'm in Los Angeles, and I have a lot more Allen's/Rufous than usual for this time of year in my yard. Normally, by May, I mostly have the more mellow Anna's. But, this afternoon, 7 little orange guys were zipping around trying to control the territory. Glad to hear you got some back up your way!

Red-tailed Hawk and Common Raven Battle

I took these pictures of a combat between a Red-tailed hawk and Common Raven from my yard. Unfortunately, the sky was super-bright and the birds were far away, so it's not the best image quality. Both of them have scraggly feathers, and I'm not sure if this fight caused it.

Los Angeles lake ducks and a cormorant

That Thanks for posting this. I was wondering if it could be a neotropic. Although it's a rare bird for this area, and I'm a pretty inexperienced birder, so I assume that everything I see should be common. There are reports of several neotropics at a park with a lake a few miles away (eBird...

Los Angeles lake ducks and a cormorant

There were 2 different ducks I couldn't ID with the Merlin app. I was at a large urban park with several lakes. The first one is a diving duck that would go underwater for a while. Dark bill. This is a different duck I couldn't ID. It was on land hanging out with Mallards ...and...
