    Ringed Firecrest - Lynford Arboretum

Greetings, I spotted a firecrest today while out birding with a pink and white ring ( or two separate rings) . I have looked online to see if I can get any info on the bird but haven't been able to find anything related to it. Would anybody have any idea's as to where I should be looking? Thanks

    Year list question

That's partly the reason I asked as I have heard turtle dove in a few different places this year and read a piece on birdtrack asking for people to record them for conservation purposes. I will no doubt see one at some point this summer but haven't as of yet.

    Year list question

Thanks all , I certainly wouldn't tick something I heard without being 100 % sure. Interestingly I was told the other week NOT to tick any white tailed eagle (not that I've seen one) seen in England as it would be from the reintroduced population in the Isle of white and therefore not ''wild''...

    Year list question

Hi, I am doing my first year list and was wondering whether people count birds that they haven't seen but have heard? I have heard Turtle dove on a few occasions but have yet to see one this year. My list is purely for for my own enjoyment but I would like to stick to the rules, assuming there...

    Cairngorms - September

Good evening fellow birders, I am doing my annual visit to the Cairngorms in September and am looking for any little gems to visit birding wise? I am staying at Nethybridge and am looking at places within an hour or so drive. I have already done all the village walks through Dell woods, and...

    Wood sandpiper or Greenshank or.....?

Good evening all . Would somebody be able to tell me if a wood sandpiper is bigger in size than a Redshank, and whether they bob up and down like common sandpipers? I saw a bird yesterday at Frampton marsh ( I'm not a photographer and purposefully leave my phone at home when birding so no...

    Golden eagles - RSPB Ruthven

G1B would be the closest resemblance but it was at a distance so I guess I will never know.

    Golden eagles - RSPB Ruthven

It's so difficult to gauge the size and distance. I have seen golden eagles in the findhorn valley and Skye but there was buzzards and ravens around to compare the size difference and of course these places are well known strongholds and I was with more experienced birders. On this occasion I...

    Golden eagles - RSPB Ruthven

Would anybody know if there are golden eagles in this area? I visited last October and saw what I thought was three eagles circling above a hill / mountain on the road down to the carpark. Distance ( best guess, approx quarter of a mile) height, and no other birds around to really compare size...

Looking for a spotting scope -UK

Hi all , I am new to the forum and relatively new to birding. Are there any decent spotting scopes available for five hundred pounds maximum? I am unable to spend any more than that and was shocked at the prices I have seen. I am also confused with all the jargon involved and don't want to waste...
