    SE Arizona lizard

    Yes, Chihuahuan, Sonoran, and Gila are all in range and difficult to tell apart. I believe that for sure this is not a Chihuahuan, as they have heavy spots and indistinct stripes, while the other two (and this lizard) are the reverse. But I can't honestly tell if it's Sonoran or Gila.

    Snapping turtle in Georgia

    Don't live there but this species is all over the eastern U.S. Given the context of the objects around it, it looks fairly large but it is very common that they reach such sizes, and bigger. Up here in northern Indiana I saw one somewhat bigger than that out to lay eggs a week or two ago.

    Black Rat Snake is a species name from the older taxonomy (which some people want to keep). The snake looks like an adult to me - for one thing, juv gray rats are typically lighter/brighter in color.

    Although the area is clearly in breeding range, Broad-wingeds are uncommon around here outside of migration. Not impossible, but we consider it a pretty big deal when we see one June - August.

    Hi Niels. I only have a minute here. First two are Western Fence and Side-blotched. I will come back later today and look at the others. Actually, I think the rest are also all Side-blotched. Scalation not as rough as Fence.
