    Nikon compacts?

Hi I've been looking thru the threads on pocket/small bins and see that some recommend the Nikon Sprint III (£35 + p&p from Warehouse X) - but just I've seen Nikon Sprint IV on ebay (£49 inc p&p). Anyone know the difference between III's and IV's?? Or has anyone any links to "good" cheap...

    Slik head!

Hi I've got a secondhand Slik88 tripod which I'd like to put another head on (yes two heads are better than one! ;) ) - no I mean replace the complicated (too many levers and knobs!!) one that it came with. Can I buy the multi-action head that comes with the Slik D3 anywhere? or can anyone...

    imagic 65, any good?

Hi I've just been offered an opticron imagic 65 as an insurance "like-for-like replacement" for an opticron HR60. I get to keep the current 20-60x HR lens, and they swop out the body. Is the imagic 65 as good? thanks

    How do you test binoculars???

Hi everyone thanks to all who have answered my questions before......well, here's another obvious one - how do you test bins? After reading all the threads (and totally ignoring the "try before you buy" ones, cos nowhere had these bins) I decided to buy a pair of Pentax 8x32 DCF SP. Arrived...

    bins with large eyepiece diameter?

I've been informed that I have to look for bins (8x40/2) with large eyepiece diameter. Apparently bins with small diam. give a tunnel-effect view to my specs-wearing partner. Have seen that the Opticron DBA's have a diam. of 21.6mm, anyone recommend any others?

    porro or roof?

I keep meaning to find an idiots guide to explain the difference (minus the physics!) in types of bins (porro/roof) and therefore why buy one sort rather than the other. Can anyone tell me the idiots guide? with or without pictures!! Thanks. (sorry if I've missed an faq somewhere)

    Mid-price bins? Opinions please.

Hi I'm looking to spend some money.....ahh but not too much!? on some new binoculars. I like my old tokina 8x30's but feel its time for a treat and to keep the partner sweet I'm looking for some 8x40/2 for a specs-wearer too. I've seen the reviews and threads for the Nikon SE but I think its a...

    Recommended feeders

Hi all, well I've got all the catologues out and the credit card primed, I'm just not sure what to buy.....so far I've got a peanut-feeder and a suet feeder (for all-comers). so, do the "nuttery" squirrel-resistant cage-type feeders keep squiffs and bigger birds out? what is the best food...

    Where to go this Sunday?

Hi Has anyone any ideas about where might be a good place to take a daytrip to this Sunday? Was thinking of Minsmere but thats perhaps a bit predictable. If anyone knows anywhere with a good choice of scopes to check out, or a great teashop or extra special birds (didn't mean to put that...
