Barnsley Starling Murmuration Not rare or anything but here's a quick shot of the Starling murmuration which is currently showing well on an afternoon near former Woolley Colliery site, Barnsley. Plenty of predator action-great to watch. All the best Mick

    Puffin photography June 2014

I've done a few Puffin trips over the years including the Farnes & also Lunga but my personal favourite island is Skomer. To be honest you can't go wrong at any of these locations. Mick.

    Olympus OM-D EM-1

Yes did it all via Olympus website. I notice the offer states "while stocks last" though. Hope we got in there early enough. Exiting times! The remote ipad control feature may have some birding/wildlife advantages also the focus tracking possibly. Mainly looking forward to using high iso values...

    Olympus OM-D EM-1

Had an all too brief go with an em1 with bigma & 70-300. Seemed to focus at least as fast as my e510. Would have liked longer to be certain. Having said that....I've ordered one. Fingers crossed.

    Olympus OM-D EM-1

The em1 has been designed to work with old four thirds lenses so I'm hoping it will work. I'll let you know my results. It was £450, saw one go recently for £650, also seen one go for under £400! Mick

Yes you're right small world! Just had a look at yours, excellent. We were staying in a cottage up the Grasspoint road & the little fellow greeted us most days on the bridge. Loved Mull. Thanks for posting.

I'm tempted to get the e-m1 as my e510 is on it's last legs. It' a bit pricey though, but might work out cheaper than selling all my lenses and switching to a different system. I'm hoping to try one out with my lenses including the crucial Bigma next Saturday. Mick

Birding in Wales and the east coast of england

Ynys Hir Rspb reserve is about an hour away from Rhyader. Not been but looks good. However Skomer is probably my favourite place in Wales. Go if you can. https://picasaweb.google.com/100584611443528818973/SkomerPuffins?authuser=0&feat=directlink

Nice one. Takes some skill to get 'em in flight I'd imagine.
