    ID - Southern France

Photo taken in mid-August this year in the Cevennes (southern France). I've thought it was a Sylvia spp warbler from watching it, but the photo is making me wonder. It didn't act like a redstart (both Black and Common were present). Would be interested in hearing people's opinions! Thanks.

Cormorants on Lake Neuchatel & Fishermen protest

I came across the following news story today: Fishermen against protected cormorants It made me wonder, as the fishermen speak of the threat to generations' worth of their profession, if the status of cormorants has changed? Are they becoming more numerous?

Last one I believe (though some trolling might find more). Very ordinary shot (and a juvenile on top of that). Another for the record though.

    Rufous Spinetail

Another pretty ordinary shot.. but its new anyways. Unfortunately, it was hanging out very close to where we were staying and I never went back from more photos (mind you, it was only our 3rd day in South America). Taken at Bellavista Lodge, Ecuador in July 2009.

Hi all, My partner and I have decided to make the most of cheap flights to South America (normally horrendously expensive from Australia). We'll probably have around 6 weeks, the bulk of which we hope to spend in Peru.. on a budget! Only part of the broad plan so far is: 3 weeks in the...

St Lucia, South Africa - Bat Hawk?

Hi all, just hanging around waiting for a cab to the airport and I remembered an un-identified bird I took a photo of in late February this year in St Lucia village (KZN, South Africa). Looking at the picture again, I'm getting the impression that its a bat hawk. Any comments? Cheers, Damien

South Africa / Parfuri, Kruger Bird ID

Hey guys, Just one ID request from 5 week trip to South Africa. This shot was taken in Parfuri on our 3rd day in country, when the birds were still a bit overwhelming. Anyways, my thought is that its a lesser honeyguide. Bill shape isn't quite right, but everything else fits, including size...

Hey guys, As part of a trip next year, I am possibly planning a foray into Southern Chile from Santiago, using a LAN Airpass (cheap flights!). Anyways, I was wondering what the best destinations would be (ie: flying to Punta Arenas or Puerto Montt) and spots to visit. I am planning a week or...

Hey Everyone, From the start of February to the end of June next year (2008), my girlfriend and I are looking at doing a few months abroad from Australia.
