    Can anyone give me a link to some Manx shearwater call recordings.. there's a short one on the Manx shrearwater page on Opus, but I'd like to hear more! A rather unusual (sound only) garden tick depends on it! ;)

    Guillemots nesting.. or not!

    Last week on "Les Autelets" guillemot nesting Stack, on Sark CI, there were about 200 guillemots, crowded onto the ledges... this week I returned and there were none at all. Is it normal for them to come and go like that!

    Are there any websites reporting bird sightings in France? The reason I'm asking is living in the Channel Islands I'm keen to see which migrants are heading this way.... and by the time they get reported on the English web-sites, they will have past though here. I know about various Channel...

    Black rat

    Sark is known to be one of the last Brittish refuges of the Black rat, Rattus rattus. I can't find out if we have brown rats as well. The Question is... How can I tell the difference! I've seen several rats, scurrying across cliff top paths, they seem smaller and darker than normal rats.

    Beavers In Scotland??????

    BBC Scotland are reporting that "damage" to trees which could be atributable to beavers has been found in the Forfar/Angus area. No legal releases have taken place, but has someone lost a few or accidentally released some? Does anyone know any more?

    White Blackbird Uk

    Back in October, I had a white blackbird in the garden. I just wondered, as it has distinctive wing marks, has any one seen it since (or before). It arrived, here in Argyll with a noticable fall of blackbirds and other thrushes, stayed for about a week, then moved on.
