    Micro adjustment

I have the same issue. I have 7D II, EF 100-400 Mk II and 1.4x III Extender. With the lens alone, the images are sharp. With the 1.4 extender added at 400mm, the images all seem a bit soft. Having googled this, it is apparently a common issue with this combination and does require micro...

    ED50 20x or 27x DS question

I am now on my second ED50 and I have used the 16x DS, 20x MC and 13-30x MC zoom (old one with fold down eye cup). I have a Swaro ATM 80 HD as my main scope but use the Nikon as a pocket scope or travel scope. I like to use it handheld with the Grippa case or on a lightweight monopod. Here’s...

    New Zeiss Spotting Scopes

Picked up a Zeiss 85 victory DIASCOPE with 20-75x zoom from ebay at £1100 which is almost a 50% reduction on new. It is a very good scope and I have compared it alongside a Swaro ATS 80 HD with 25-50 and 20-60x zoom. There is very little in it except that the 75x zoom on the Diascope gives...

SLC 8x42 WB HD vs. SLC 42

For me, the 8x42 SLC HD is a fabulous binocular.. I tried the 8.5 x 42 SW but found the rolling ball gave me headaches and nausea after extended use. I also have an old 8.4x42 EL from 2002 and a Zeiss Victory FL. The SLC HD is superior to both and is like an upgraded EL without the field...

    Longevity of EL 10x42

A decent binocular like a Swarovski EL should last a good 30 years plus. My 8.5x42 from 2002 look a little worn at the edges but still perform remarkably well and I would expect at least another 20 years from them bar any radical damage to them.

    Swarovski EL Revision History?

I understand that the faster focussing was introduced in 2005 to make less turns from close focus to infinity due to customer complaints about the slow focus. The number of turns reduced from 2.5 in original to 1.5 turns in the revised model. ELs with serial numbers beyond L741995971 have the...

The Birth of the Original Swarovski EL

    Hi from the UK

I've been a long time lurker on the forum and just wanted to say hello to everyone from London UK. I love birds (my passion) and binoculars (also an addiction!) and this forum has been a great help to me in both. Some really great folks with a huge wealth of knowledge. Thanks for the help...

    Problem with Victory 8x32 FL?

Thanks for the ongoing advice. On the subject of the two circles coming together - this does happen at medium to long range but I become more aware of them when close focussing which I assume is normal. I have booked an eye test to rule me out and will also have them checked by a local dealer...

    Problem with Victory 8x32 FL?

Thanks for the ongoing advice. I tried the star test again tonight making sure that the binocular setup was the best possible (interpupillary distance and eye relief) and also adjusting the diopter both ways. The results were not as clear cut as the other night. Whist the halo was not...

    Problem with Victory 8x32 FL?

Thanks for the additional info. I can confirm that the diopter adjustment is correctly set and have fiddled with it a bit to rule it out. I did read on the other threads that the 8x32s take a bit more setting up but could find nothing specific. So if there are any users with 8x32s out there...

    Problem with Victory 8x32 FL?

Thanks for the tip - I will try that tonight. One other thing is that the two "circles" from each eyepeice do not seem to totally overlap into one circle. Does this suggest a collimation issue? Many thanks Martin

    Problem with Victory 8x32 FL?

Hi I am a newbie to this forum and wondered if anyone could help advise me. I have just bought a second hand pair of Victory 8x32 FLs from ebay and took them out for a few hours for the first time. At the end of the session, I had a bit of a headache and am now wondering if there is something...
