    UVHD+ 7x42 Eyecups a Little Short

I don't blame you! Lol. When I get my 7x42 back from Leica I'll put on the 10x rubber eyecups. Very carefully that is.

    UVHD+ 7x42 Eyecups a Little Short

Thank upland, this is a potential fix. I'll look into it. Still hoping the 10x rubber part of eyecups will fit as I think that is best solution if it works.

Bad Photo Horned Grebe and Bufflehead? Connecticut USA 2/24/24

Some birds are best left unidentified as in this Grebe photo. Most likely a Horned, but unfortunately you have to get better photos if you want to identify species.

    Binocular Recommendation $2k budget

lol no worries on the rant. For me personally I have tested 8x vs 10x many times. I can ID warblers very quickly and confidently at much farther distance with a 10x than I can with an 8x without question.

What did you see in your binoculars today?

Do you mean Purple-rumped Sunbird? :) Today I observed male and female Hooded Merganser at a small lake on my way to work.

    Binocular Recommendation $2k budget

Hard to go wrong there. If weight becomes an issue, can always use a bino harness in place of neck strap.

    Binocular Recommendation $2k budget

If your main purpose for the bins is birding and you will be in multiple types of habitat, then personally I would want a 10x42 over an 8x42. The reason is I'm able to ID more birds with the 10x that are just a little too far away for the 8x. An 8x42 and 10x42 of the same make and model should...

    UVHD+ 7x42 Eyecups a Little Short

Thanks tenex. While birding I am constantly putting on and taking off the raingaurds. I'm little anal about dirty lenses so pretty much after every look I immediately apply raingaurd, then quickly remove again for the next look. Dozens of times very quickly on/off while birding. So turning...

    UVHD+ 7x42 Eyecups a Little Short

I have done that and it does work. I don't like the idea of them not technically being attached though and the risk of them falling off. I'm hoping the 10x42 rubber part of the eyecup is a solution.

    UVHD+ 7x42 Eyecups a Little Short

See the 1st post in both of these threads from eitanaltman. Said it is not glued on. https://www.birdforum.net/threads/in-case-you-were-wondering-leica-hacka.408099/ https://www.birdforum.net/threads/the-easy-diy-eyecup-mod-for-the-meostar-32mm-you%E2%80%99ve-been-waiting-for.419754/#post-4598396

    UVHD+ 7x42 Eyecups a Little Short

Thanks for doing that! You are correct, that is not the solution... In the Meopta forum, it was ONLY the rubber eyecup that was removed. It was taken off a UVHD 10x42 and put on a Meostar 8x32 to help make the eyecups longer. I recall reading that the rubber portion was not glued, but I'll...

    UVHD+ 7x42 Eyecups a Little Short

Great! I'm thinking it is just the rubber eyecup itself and not the entire eyepiece. If it does work, could you also confirm if it adds a little length?

    UVHD+ 7x42 Eyecups a Little Short

The eyecups are just a tad too short for my liking. I've been making them work just fine, but if I place the eyecups all the way into my eye socket I get very minor blackouts. I need the eyecups to be just slightly longer. I've read on the Meopta forum, that the UVHD+ 10x42 eyecups are...

Optica Exotica - really good youtube channel for binocular reviews

Ethan, You're videos were great. Thanks for the detailed explanation you provided all of us about why you removed the channel. Really miss watching your videos. Thank you for all the time and dedication you gave creating the content. I wish it would have worked out for you to make more money...

Entry - Midrange Binocular Recommendation ($500)

Have you seen the Leica Trinovid 8x42 for sale in the classifieds from chill6x6? I'm not sure of its eye relief but for the $500 price range its a steal.

    Vortex tripods?

I've been using the Vortex Pro GT for a few years. I believe the High County replaced it. Using a Tact Toric 27-55x80 on it. It's worked fine, but definitely some shake if it's windy. I've never used another tripod but would like to find something in the $400 or less that performs better in the...

    New AX Visio 10x32 binocular

Sure it would. The birder is observing one bird through the AX Visio, then there are 5 other birds singing simultaneously that the birder doesn't see, because they are focused on the bird they are looking at and what the app is telling them they are hearing. I love Swaro leading the way in...

    New AX Visio 10x32 binocular

It's wrong too often to be used as the only source to confirm an ID, especially if it's an uncommon/rare bird. I see it all the time on rare bird reports "confirmed by Merlin"....

    Used Conquest HD 10x42 at a great price on B&H- $559 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/802892945-USE/zeiss_524212_0000_000_10x42_conquest_hd_binoculars.html

    New AX Visio 10x32 binocular

Hope not. From my experience Merlin sound ID needs a LOT of work. The other problem is how the app gets used by many people. App gets started and then it lists every bird it says it hears, regardless of if the person actually observes or hears the bird. The app is wrong way to often to be...

2nd Pair / Upgrade for Birder - Advise Needed

Sounds like he has tried all of those in 8x30/32 and likes the Opticron Verano best. I've never looked through any of those models in 8x32 but if I were buying, I would try the Verano. However, you'd probably still be pleased with the Maven. If either of you wear glasses consider one of these...

Where's the Love- Kowa Genesis vs The Rest $1000 Bins

I've had the Genesis 10.5x44 for a few days now. I haven't had extensive use, but some around the house and property. It appears I've received a very good sample, thankfully not having same experience of some who have had multiple bad samples. I haven't done a detailed side by side comparison...

Anyone can recommend a good binocular under 200 euro? I prefer 8x32.

Assuming you like the P7 8x30 more than the DB 8x32, since you gave away the DB. What led you to that decision?

Where's the Love- Kowa Genesis vs The Rest $1000 Bins

For sure it does. I didn't do an in depth comparison though, so my thoughts on those findings could change over time. That was all based on initial impression after using the MHG last week on 2 different occasions and then once with a 5 minute side by side with the Toric.

Where's the Love- Kowa Genesis vs The Rest $1000 Bins

Will do on the Genesis. The Tract Toric 10x42 as an OVERALL birding bin for me personally has been hard to beat. That is partially because it is a 10x which I prefer over all other magnifications for MOST (not ALL) birding situations. Compared to MHG Sharpness and contrast: both slightly...
