    Bird House Colour?

Instead of a home made bird house this year I decided to buy a ready made one. This was white in colour but since putting up I have had no bird interest at all. Does the colour matter for potential nesters?

    When will they come?

After 2 years of no nestings in my home made camera nest box I decided to buy a commercial one. Can I ask when domestic birds will begin to explore new roostings? The home made one has had blue tits in the past, but it was looking a bit tatty. Maybe Northumbrian birds are more fussy. (No Jokes...

Where have all the birdies gone?

We live in a quiet cul-de-sac near a wooded dene. Usually we have a huge selection of small birds such as finches and blue tits. But for about 3 months they appear to have vanished! A neighbour opposite has 6 cats and I was wondering if that had anything to do with there disappearance? But we...

    Last years nests?

Feathers & Eyes! It has only been just over a week since the hatching but already their eyes are open and they have an abundance of feathers. I just hope they don't hurt themselves leaving the nest as it is fairly high up and it is concrete underneath! Six chicks out of nine eggs.......

    Last years nests?

They have hatched! I had to be away of course when the eggs hatched. But pleased to report there is a thriving brood in the nest box! It is a real pleasure to watch the parents feeding such a hungry group. They appear to be enjoyning the mealy worms I placed near by for them! Regards.... jb144

    Last years nests?

Can anyone advise what we should do with the old nests at the end of the year? i.e. remove them from the nest boxes or just leave them in for the following year? Could be a new resident would not not like the scent from a previous tennant....... Regards jb144

    Where have they gone?

How long does egg hatching take? Hi All And thank you for reading. We have at least 3 eggs in the nest box! But can anyone give me an idea as to how long they will take to hatch? Despite being late spring it is extremely cold at present in the North East. (They are blue tits eggs.) Regards jb144

    Where have they gone?

Well loads of activity in the nest at the moment. Obvisiously the parents are looking after the potential family. Pleasure to video them with my little Canon ixus80 I will keep all up to date with any hatchings!
