Maybe the RSPB should start trusting it's members and at sites where they feel there is a risk of anti social behaviour,to have a gated entry system where a member obtains a code to enter a gated entrance outside of normal hours. Just a thought, but I hate the fact that on many sites, I have to...

The residents around old hall have always been a bit of a pain,I think they are the reason that the reserve remained so underwatched for so long,as the permit issue meant it wasn't really a place you would just turn up to. It took me a few years to finally go and when I did I was annoyed at the...

    Essex Birding

I've never really known them to be so numerous that I found them tiring lol,but some birds obviously can make you feel like that.In the spring/Summer I often get home from work around 3/4 0 clock and if it's hot I will have the window open but the noise from the birds is sometimes way too much...

Missed the phalarope mate, your doing well fella lol, nice bird. For what it's worth,I never really find anything out the ordinary, the odd significant record but I just use the Essex yahoo site, rightly or wrongly as that's what I always used. Anything of any significance I would use birdguides...

I don't think Steve ever reported it as a definate, just that he thought it was an AW Surely picking up an American Wigeon from a flock, whether it is known to be there or not shows that the individual concerned can id the species if seen again??

It is odd,I consider myself as an Essex chap as I was born in Orsett and lived in corringham till I was 5 and although I moved into London area then,I have always been slightly confused as to what I am supposed to be (although I haven't been too troubled by this. ) If I had been born in a London...

I just use anywhere inside the M25 as London and anywhere with Essex in the postcode as Essex and when places have both Essex in the postcode and are inside the M25 I count them as both, seeing as no one in power can make up their sodding mind

    Red Kites near Swindon ....

Not sure about Swindon but obviously the Chiltern population have spread ,so the further east you go the more chances you have,I would say 20 miles east of Swindon and they would be quite regular
