    Do we look for problems??

Could the whole FL vs EL hoo-har be as simple closed bridge ergonomics vs open bridge ???? Or softer mushy edges vs sharper ? Maybe folks are just making waaaaay too much of other factors ..... Chosun 🙅‍♀️

    Elimination/Replacement

Well, well, what do you know - all the dedicated h*t*rs (oh, I'm sorry - nature 'watchers') coming out of the woodwork ..... The same obnoxious 'mob' all time. What are you all even doing on a BIRD Forum anyway ?? You realise that this is a BIRD forum right ? The Zen-Ray ED3 is a fantastic...

    Canon 400mm f2.8 II array

The dragonfly array to get an upgrade ..... that's a whole stack of 'L' glass .... ! https://m.dpreview.com/news/1895782682/canon-usa-to-provide-120-ef-400mm-f2-8-lenses-to-expand-dragonfly-telephoto-array Chosun 🙅‍♀️

    Do we look for problems??

They could have just substituted the E glass with Carbon Fibre - lighter, stronger, and s*xi*r ...... Maybe Zeiss were/are like a lot of people - they just don't know what they don't know .... Chosun 🙅‍♀️

    Elimination/Replacement

Jerry stop flogging a dead horse. The decision has already been made by the admins for it to remain, in line with other now defunct brands. What is it with you two ? You are both guilty of being oxygen thieves ! 😄 Go outside and look at some natural beauty, something nice ..... and take notes...

Nikon Monarch HG 8x30 - after 1 year

Beth, when light levels drop low enough so that our visual acuity drops dramatically, the view disconnects somewhat from the Exit Pupil size - especially if your own eyesight introduces a whole lot of other aberrations as your pupils dilate as well. Sometimes, what is seen under those low light...

Herbicides could END life on earth

    A bit of a way forward .... https://regenerationinternational.org/2021/03/15/pasture-cropping-the-innovative-no-kill-no-till-system-developed-by-australian-farmers/?fbclid=IwAR1oW-XDoB30lT0T-puOXp5N1jeTC1N4n7BskyQYc-stwBQl5qKX-vagBNY Chosun 🙅‍♀️

    ED or HD?

Pure marketing terms. HD can also be written as 'High Definition' making reference to the digital broadcast display standards. I'm patiently waiting for the first 4K, 8K, etc bins to emerge from some over enthusiastic marketer - lol As John said it relates to one the material properties of the...

    Do we look for problems??

Perhaps the whole forum and the r-e-a-m-s of words written and exchanged here, is not always so much about the specifics of the information, but rather an innate need for people to express themselves, and connect on a human level ...... 🤔 Chosun 🙅‍♀️

    Elimination/Replacement

Oh dear 🙄 ..... give it a rest - again, and perhaps get a life ! This topic was done to death previously and it was decided by the admins that it would remain as a useful archive, just like many other defunct historical brands. The basic designs /components live on in other brands, so the...

Know what "Open Box" binoculars means from Adorama

I have dealt with Adorama from over on this side of the pond and they were fantastic. They even came to the party when the manufacturer (Swift) went awol. Full credit where credit is due. So it's two thumbs up from me. 👍👍 I have to say that unless dealing with someone that is involved with each...

Nikon Monarch HG 8x30 - after 1 year

I will post this link again, since it also describes what Beth is seeing. https://www.birdforum.net/threads/low-light-complement-to-el32.416117/post-4248026 You can look at Holger's Fig.6 and map out your various binocular formats to see how they compare. It is remarkable how long the little...

    Low-light complement to EL32?

    @Dr. K - how are the Zeiss 8x42 HT going ? Chosun 🙅‍♀️

    Do we look for problems??

John, I'm just going from memory here (so needs to be verified !) but I seem to remember something about the specific type of Fibreglass being used as "E-glass" which is a higher modulus fibre. Hopefully someone can dig up the document or interview where this was mentioned. Chosun 🙅‍♀️

    Do we look for problems??

And here's me thinking a Javelina was a wildcat ?? I'm unlikely to see either though - unless they present during office hours .... Chosun 🙅‍♀️

    Do we look for problems??

WoW ! 😳 I know scientists and engineers are doing some fantastic things these days with biomimicry, but I wasn't aware they were up to using the superior properties of Magnolia flowers yet ! How are the hairy-chested Hummer driving crowd gonna take that one ..... ?! 🤯😄 Chosun 🙅‍♀️

    Do we look for problems??

Au contraire - it is saying everything about you. I felt it would be too "triggering" to come right out and say what the ------------ really stood for - which of course is - 'materials engineering knowledge' ...... there, I said it. I also warrant no reliability on the statistics either...

    Do we look for problems??

WoW ! There seems to be a lot of disgruntled, not to mention personally offended people here ! If only you were all able to experience the joys of the mighty Zen-Ray this would be a much shorter thread ..... And there certainly wouldn't be futile discussions trying to label one of thousands of...

Nikon Monarch HG 8x30 - after 1 year

There's three parts to this - 1. The light gathering ability of the bin - mostly related to objective size and transmission curve. 2. EP size in relation to the viewers pupil size at the time in response to environmental lighting conditions. In very bright light it is around ~2.5mm, but even on...

Nikon Monarch HG 8x30 - after 1 year

Beth - you nailed it - this more critical positioning is the trade off for the smaller and more portable binocular - especially for glasses wearers. I don't use EP's as small as you do, but when I use a bin with a lesser EP than the mighty Zen - such as a 10x42, or a 8x32 I notice the same...

    "The Big Year"

Whoa ! You realise you create your own reality right ? 🤔 Be careful what you wish for - you will get it ....... Perhaps back away from the scope and try something with an extra-wide Fov ..... 😄 What if it's not about birding at all ? What if it's just about universal themes ? What if the...

    Natural Sequence Farming

Interesting resource intensive, ground disturbing rehabilitation + low tech sticks. The prime damagers giving themselves something of a pat on the back for a tiny bit fixing. It's not really the best way to heal the land, and certainly not in isolation - but probably better than nothing ...

    "The Big Year"

Coz OP Jerry has staked a claim in the binoculars sub-forum, and he ain't movin' ! This ol' dawg ain't gonna be learnin' no new trix ....... ! 😄 Chosun 🙅‍♀️

    "The Big Year"

I enjoyed it, and for the many others that did too - that's a success. I think it nailed exactly what it was trying to say ..... the promotional 'teaser' poster even (shows - lol) , and spells it out exactly - "everyone is searching for something" If folks didn't twig to it, perhaps they...
