    Take a look what Ameticans did with 'English' for similar reasons. Labour becomes Labor. Theatre becomes Theater, Centre becomes Center etc, etc

    The only time I ever use scientific names, is on the rare occasion when I meet foreign birders who don't know English names and even then, my knowledge is limited to Europe and a few Americans species.

    None in the English language though, what problem do German's have with such names? Negrofinches are the most obvious name that needed changing in English and they have been, now Nigritas and I assume that the forthcoming 2nd edition of Stevenson and Fanshawe will adopt the change?

    Isn't that the point? I'm sure that most WP listers will apply IOC or Clements, I doubt than many (any) will take the ruling of any national committee, over either, especially if losing a tick? What a national committee does or doesn't count, doesn't matter in the context of a uniform, WP list...

    It's very hard to ignore them though when the latest field guide, adopts so many name changes, that it makes me feel like a total beginner again, Eye-browed Jungle Flycatcher will never be Bornean Shade Dweller in my lists I can assure you!
