    Actually, I was referring to Ken’s birds not your photos Ian but I do think yours look like Mealies although I am not sure how much latitude we should give the rumps! See above post #8 I don’t know what Ken’s bird is in the OP - obviously the more common is Lesser but at this time of year...

    Interesting you say that as I was just thinking the confusion if any in the OP would be between cabaret and flammea. The pale body with heavy streaking and pale pink breast might favour Mealy imo - they look a bit pale for Lesser but as we know there is extensive overlap. The dark contrasting...
