    OK, I'll keep an eye out for a wobbly-looking birder in the beer garden (as well as ignoring reports of multiple ibises later in the evening ;) ) (congratulations on handing in the dissertation.) Will see what time I get away from work but hope to be there some time between 5 & 6.

    Daniel, thanks for that, might try tomorrow after work - looks like you can get quite close. Had a close one a couple of years back but the sun had gone and as you say, they look so much better in the sun. Have you seen any SE owls lately? Are any left? regards James

    cheers for that. You're not the first to suggest it's a funny blackbird though I can't say I've seen any like that. At first I thought it looked pretty good for red-throated but now maybe coming round to the blackbird idea (mainly on account of the tail)... or a hybrid, as it doesn't seem to fit...
