    Is the most northerly occurring split of the Black-throated Trogon complex. The other most northerly occurring split that happened yesterday is the once again available tentatively named:- 9115. Intermediate Egret 😃

    Well ..... It's a real mission to come up with a connection, but Missiones is the only area within Argententina that Variegated Antpitta occurs, which is also true of the freshly split:- 9113. Atlantic Black-throated Trogon 😁

    Plain Xenops being split into two species means that Botha now playable 😆, and not only that but the next bird also comes from a family of birds where the word Lark is used as a bird name (Lark-like Brushrunner). So ..... #9024 White-throated Xenops

    In which case I'll employ the following logic 😁: Halmahera Golden Bulbul was once within Northern Golden Bulbul. Northern Buff-throated Foliage-gleaner is now a full species! And if it's Northern that's already taken, I'll go for Southern, using the old and trusty "polar opposite" connection...

    ...and in case anyone's wondering (after today's 6-way split of Northern Golden Bulbul)... the one in my original Golden Bulbul post is now called Togian Golden Bulbul, so the other 5 species are up for grabs

    I seem to recall Jacana posting some Hispaniolan endemics "back in the day" when this thread was young 😉. My memory is struggling to go back that far though!

    Another stretch, but if Jacana's Antillean Mango was seen on Hispaniola, I'm going to claim the recently split (from Hispaniolan Mango) 9014. Puerto Rican Mango Delete if not the case!

    Spectacled Prickletail is a very rufescent mainland Neotropical bird, as is:- 9012 Rufescent Flycatcher (Hoping no-one's jumped on that one yet 😁)

    Ventriloquial Oriole has been split by IOC. It was accepted on Feb 5th. The chaffinches and sand plover splits were accepted after this.

    It was split into 5 species by IOC a few weeks ago (IOC is the taxonomy this thread was traditionally using)
