Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32 vs. 8x42 for birding

I’ve opined on this a few times before, I feel the 32 and 42 are the sweet spot of all the different objective size options for birding. A good 32 can do just about anything a 42 can do 90%+/- of the time. I don’t feel we’re giving up much with a 32. That being said if the binoculars are the...

Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32 vs. 8x42 for birding

I don’t understand, there are multiple posts with members making suggestions, and you just keep going on and on. Then somebody points out that you’ve made your point multiple times in multiple discussions and you take offense and make derogatory remarks and then complain people are making...

Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32 vs. 8x42 for birding

Eric, wishing you a full speedy recovery. Stay off those inclines and don't try opening the iron lung door by yourself. 🙏

Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32 vs. 8x42 for birding

Hi Alicia, We understand your disappointment with your binoculars, and many here can sympathize as we've all had one issue or another over the years with our optics, but you've made your point multiple times in multiple discussions and we get it. Many here (with lots of experience) have offered...

Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32 vs. 8x42 for birding

And in four different discussions 🤪. A lot of people here have issues with the clunky eye cups on the Conquests for the price point, but few (if any) had issues eight times over eleven years.

Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32 vs. 8x42 for birding

To me the small 8x30/32’s are the perfect compromise for the full size 40/42’s and the pockets, for the exact reasons you describe. The 30/32’s give you the best of both worlds, I sometimes forget that I’m carrying my Ultravid 8x32 or Swaro Habicht’s , and both easily fit into the pocket of a...

Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32 vs. 8x42 for birding

Conquest are phenomenal binoculars and are very high quality binos. There are others that compare very well to the conquest and some slightly better, eyebox, CA control , immersive image. Nikon MHG, Kowa Genesis, Leica Trinovid to name a few. But none of those are in the same league as the NL...

Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32 vs. 8x42 for birding

Interesting point Patudo makes concerning FOV. I noticed the same thing, when using two optically similar quality binoculars. Using one with a very large FOV (like some new premiums) and one with a more general FOV it’s very noticeable going back and forth , but after a while with the smaller...

Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32 vs. 8x42 for birding

I tested the 842 CHD and had the 1042 and 832. I thought the 32’s had less CA than both the 42’s. I wound up getting a Genesis 833 (best corrected for CA of any 32 I’ve tried) and the GPO in 1042. Sold both conquest’s. CHD great glass I just preferred the build and construction of the others...

Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32 vs. 8x42 for birding

Seems like maybe your expecting to much from the optics. As others here mentioned going from 4 to 5.25 exit pupal is not really going to give you a night and day difference (no pun intended). Comparing an equal quality 32 mm to a 42 mm really isn’t gonna give you more than another 15 minutes or...
