    Nevertheless, the vast majority of books of this kind will never see this extensive use in the field. But then, soft covers still don't preclude "library" use.

    While I agree about the "sexier" look of the cover (in fact, I think it is a stunner), I also think it is a cheater! There is that one rare Bird-of-paradise that occurs in a fraction of the area that the book tries to impress with. It is hardly representative for the whole area, though.

    Yes looks nice. But as Lynx states there, it is not a FG, and not meant to be. I presume that holds for other such volumes as well. Thus, a good way to learn what species one might expect, but not optimal to actually get their ID features.

    Yes, and it's probably a quicker way than doing some of those most desired ones.

    A pretty stupid policy! I have not ordered Birds of the World, but if I had, I might get over the limit for having to pay import taxes here in Switzerland. Not sure how many other countries have such a minimum limit. At any rate, those who might be affected better check! :eek!:
