Why is Alpha better than high grade.

As Paul pointed out too, not even here a month. I believe you've put into words what everyone else is already thinking.

Why is Alpha better than high grade.

I think of the term alpha as indicating top tier, but do not believe in a best-available anything. My best is may not be someone else's best, because we'll likely have a differing set of preferences or needs. I like my Ultravid and Trinovid Leicas and for me they are as high up in the rankings...

Why is Alpha better than high grade.

There is no convincing one who makes imbalanced comparisons based on weighted criteria. For you, image stabilized binoculars are absolutely the best, just as a motor scooter is better for many than a bicycle, or a horse for that matter. And yet bicycles (and horses) still remain popular, as do...

Why is Alpha better than high grade.

So....what factors are they that lead one model to be considered alpha and the next one beta? I believe that's more in line with the original intent of the thread.

Why is Alpha better than high grade.

Are you saying that mistaken beliefs carry more weight than fact based ones? Seems that way since you brought up belief in the sun rotating around the earth even though it was already known to be the opposite in many different cultures. If you disagree with anything I say, at least try to do so...

Why is Alpha better than high grade.

History also teaches that there were incredible levels of understanding of the movements of the heavens going far, far back into antiquity among many civilizations. But then, that's another subject and only applies here in that it goes to show that evidence of one belief does not negate the...

Why is Alpha better than high grade.

This all reminds me of a talking point a few years ago where the ultra-wealthy were determined to be pretty much anyone that had more money than the present party had. This led to some making as little as $50,000 a year being seen as unreasonably wealthy to some.

Why is Alpha better than high grade.

Wasn't that good of a post, but at least it was cynical, which does seem to be counted as a virtue as of late.

Why is Alpha better than high grade.

There was no universal belief as such, but, point taken nonetheless.

I'm not sure what year my UVHD+ is from but have only been able to personally detect the slightest of advantages (barely lighter in weight, slightly less bulky and a tiny advantage in low light) over my Trinovid BN making points like yours especially resound within my limited experience.

Such as equating conversations about binoculars to totally fruitless pursuits.

This is exactly what we were all waiting for!! LoL

Why is Alpha better than high grade.

Some things done by others may never be understood, but still doesn't necessarily invalidate their choices. Leaving the 'alpha' distinction out of the equation for a moment, I have three sets of 8x32 and two 8x20, mostly purchased for comparative reasons and plan on selling off those that don't...

Why is Alpha better than high grade.

Items of this nature aren't made for shoppers like yourself and the only people who can justify them are the ones who can both see, and appreciate the differences, however slight. Some people drink cheap scotch and some of us don't. One thing is for sure though; there'll always be plenty enough...

Why is Alpha better than high grade.

Only one Pentax 7x21 monocular which will eventually be accompanied by the Curio, and hopefully at least a couple of others if "they" will start bringing more offerings to the marketplace. Really also wanting the Zeiss 6x18 in both paired and singular versions, at which point I may let my...

Why is Alpha better than high grade.

This could be an entirely spot-on article all by itself and mirrors pretty well exactly how I feel about most all purchasable items in life.

Makes sense for one who really enjoys a multitude of binoculars which excel in different settings. Not sure yet, but I really feel that I'd have better chance of getting there if a wider range of 7x binoculars were available, which is another issue altogether.

    Hmm, makes perfect sense now.

Why is Alpha better than high grade.

Satisfaction only looks boring to those who don't understand it. Ultimately it's down to the individual whether they prefer to focus on the search for 'better than perfect', enjoy their alphas, or attempt to balance the two.

Nice reply...if they're perfect for you, then they're perfect. I like the concept also of no longer searching once satisfaction has been met.
