    many thanks. re the Herons & Egrets, there were a pair of each on the marsh whilst i was there, possibly the same birds? also the female kingfisher seemed to be flying away towards the Mardyke and coming back from that direction to the nest so possibly same bird again. The male flew inland...

    I finally managed a photo of a kingfisher at Phyllis currie EWT reserve this evening! (probably only because Steve was there with me, I was there for 1/2 hour and saw nothing , he turned up and 2 minutes later so did the kingfisher....

    a blurred photo is always better than none though, always nice to get something in the can, didnt realise the jay was on your car roof!
