Very busy at the bird feeder today!
Just seen a gsw in the garden this morning for the first time on a feeder with very few sunflower hearts, hope he comes back.....- barnstormer

Very busy at the bird feeder today!
Just had about 25 goldfinch in amongst the sparrows and greenfinch. 6 blue tits and 4 great tits a couple of dunnocks and a robin plus 6 starlings trying to hog the feeders.- barnstormer

local wildlife refuge Just a quick question, where is our local wildlife refuge ? i didn't know there was one in Durham, I'd like to go along and have a look. Also i'd love to see some pics of any natural feeding stations/Platforms that anyone has made as i'd like to give it a try myself.- barnstormer

Very busy at the bird feeder today!
Still getting at least a dozen goldfinch and the same amount of long tail tits 3 or 4 times a day along with 4 blue,great tits and the odd coal,willow tit.Still getting greenfinch but only a few and not as many as 2 years ago.lots of sparrows and starlings still coming in and getting at least 6...- barnstormer

Very busy at the bird feeder today!
Was just putting out the christmas deck lights when a flock of a dozen or so Long Tailed Tits flew onto the fat ball feeders not 4 ft away so i just stood still and watched for a couple of minutes while they fed then flew off. They come into the garden every day now and about the same time each day.- barnstormer

Very busy at the bird feeder today!
I had a reed bunting in the garden yesterday but haven't seen a robin for 2 weeks.Something else i've noticed is the pair of blue tits who are checking one of my 5 nestboxes out are taking to chasing the goldfinches out of the garden. Is this normal ? The other thing is when do blue tits start...- barnstormer

Very busy at the bird feeder today!
Getting 20 + goldies and about 12 sparrows, the Blue/Great/Willow tits have been in the garden constant today and the feed is flying down.The blue tits have been checking the boxes for weeks but the same thing happened last year but no takers. Very busy at the bird feeder today!
Just had my third new species in 2 weeks. After i had the brambling came the Long Tailed Tits and now a woodpecker on the fence just hope it wasn't a one off.That really was the one i wanted to see in my garden.The only problem is it's a new house with no mature trees.- barnstormer

Had a nice birthday present yesterday when 5 L/T/tits turned up in the garden which is a first along with 2 bramblings and the usual suspects.Hope the long tailed tits make it a regular stop off.- barnstormer

Very busy at the bird feeder today!
22 blackbirds this morning including one who doesn't move anymore when i go out to fill the feeders i can walk to within a couple of feet now and he just sits there, hope he keeps it up. 6 chaffinch 3 robins including white robin starlings 3 blue tits 2 dunnocks 2 thrush 6 goldies 1 greenfinch...- barnstormer

Black beak blackbirds are 1st year birds they don't get yellow beaks till 2nd year.I have a good collection of them in the garden too.....- barnstormer

Pied wagtails love greggs pasty crumbs...........they always hang around outside my local graggs hoovering up the crumbs. At my feeders this morning. Loads of blackbirds 12 + 4 robins including my leucistic robin goldfinches 15 starlings collar doves magpies 3 20 sparrows 2 blue tits 3...- barnstormer

So far this morning 32 goldfinch 8 greenfinch 7 blackbirds 12 starlings 4 robins ( no sign of my albino robin) 2 b/tit 1 g/tit 1 w/tit 2 dunnocks 4 chaffinch 3 sparrows 1 mistle thrush 2 collar doves- barnstormer

Very busy at the bird feeder today!
Yesterday i had the most goldfinches in the garden ever, a total of 46.All were either on the 3 sunflower heart feeders or directly underneath. Not bad for a garden measuring 5x6 metres.- barnstormer

Very busy at the bird feeder today!
I am just watching a blackbird digging thru the snow and chucking soil all over the lawn,he's making a right mess. Here on the durham coast we have a light dusting of snow too so i'm goin to clean off the ground feeders and restock them. Blackbirds x 5 robins x 3 starlings x 10 goldfinch x 16...- barnstormer

The usual suspects turned up today. Greenfinch 10+ goldfinch 20+ dunnocks 4 sparrows 8 starlings 20 + blue/great/willow tits chaffinches 3 wren blackbirds 4 robins 3 and a visit from our skittish part albino robin which i'm gonna put out food especially for him in his usual spot and try and get...- barnstormer
