    WHINCHAT this morning along the hedge between the 1st and 2nd fields from car park. Also I had a Lure in my pocket and while watching the Whinchat a Male Emperor Moth was all over me. It came within a few minutes so couldn't have been too far away. Cuckoo eventually turned up around midday...

    Was having a typical quiet time here this morning with just Canadas and Mallards then a Little Grebe shot out of its hiding place and looked very angry...lol. After that all the other locals showed up..... Moorhen Blackbird Rook A Corvid chasing a Raven 2 Buzzards over the woods As I was leaving...

    Report in hide book of 4 Kite on 27th Feb....and coincidentally theres a sign on Moors Lane for a Kite Barn...a feeding station maybe ?

    These 2 flew up from the part flooded field behind the main hide today......looked quite small and no " white marks " in flight......only managed these very distant shots as they flew off west. V.Long Bills....

    Really drab day ( as was Tuesday ).....until this youngster showed up. It was really scared of the window being open in the hide and was flying all around. In the end if flew off towards the dragon pool. 1st King for so long here.

    Monday 14/6/21 My 1st Small Heath here and also a few Meadow Browns (my 1st this year). Tortoiseshell ...Large Skipper and 2 Moths. NO King on pool but one maybe two on Friday.....was very skittish so thinking Juves. Like Battle of Britain on the Dragon Pool with about 20 4 Spot Chasers ...well...

    It is NOT locked but has a sign asking that it should not be used...I used it the other day as it was torrential rain.... The rest of reserve is open as per usual.

    Still on Friday......waiting in hide for the rain to stop and a Buzzard came from the left between island and front shore..SO CLOSE ...and head height. Jumped out of my skin and it looked like it would land in the dead branches on the right but instead put all the Mallard up as it swooped around...
