    Thanks Debs - true, this was in the summer. They didn't really move as a group but were tolerant of each other it seemed. The sandstone and limestone coastline of W Clare probably suits them particularly well.

    I'm used to seeing single or small numbers of Rock Pipit feeding on the rocks on my patch, along with Turnstones. But I was surprised when visiting a coastal area last summer in Clare, in the west of Ireland, to see much larger numbers of RP around the extensive rock pools. You could...
