Hello everyone,

I photographed this bird off the coast of Dakar this morning. I believe it's a Shearwater, but I'm not 100% sure. Could you please confirm the species?

Much appreciated!

Thank you,

Jose

it's a first cycle large gull. any more shots of it? resembles a bit pallas's gull which would be a mega for senegal i guess.

Thank you lou salomon and PYRTLE!

These are the 2 other photos I have of the bird, of not much quality I'm afraid. I hope they may help.

Thanks again!

Jose

I would have expected Audoin's to be much darker on the breast, upperwings and the upper back. For me, it all feels right for Pallas's in plumage, head size and bill structure.

It’s definitely a 1st winter Audouin’s and no doubt Lou will agree to Audouin’s when he’ll get back to this thread.
