Happy New Year everyone and time to start again.

Much the same as last year I intend to do most of my birding locally here in Angus, especially at Kinnordy Loch which is my home patch. I will still try to go for new ones elsewhere if time permits though.

New Year day started with checking out my garden feeders and then heading out with Molly our Springer Spaniel to see what was at the loch which is pretty much frozen over just now.

A morning visit to a frozen Kinnordy loch produced the drake Smew I had seen on the last day of 2017, it then hid from everyone on the 1st :)
We headed down to the coast after that.

Last night after dropping my daughter off I had a quick look for Owls near my house.

Kinnordy loch still pretty much frozen over, found this bird where the Highland Cattle are being fed... a nice bird to get here.

A trip down to the coast with a mate produced some nice birds, then we popped into Dundee to watch the Waxwings before heading back homewards.
