Climate engineering—pros and cons—

https://www.engineering.com/Designe...ate-Engineering-to-Combat-Climate-Change.aspx

Of the 3 methods discussed, sulfate aerosols look to be the safest and most worthy of further research. . ..
I seriously have to wonder whether you read the stuff you post - like this bit ....

"Most proposals suggest dispersal methods including releasing the compounds from high-altitude aircraft or balloons, or even fired from high-powered artillery.

..... Cons

..... however, there are also some significant potentially detrimental effects to the aerosol injection method.

Depletion of the Ozone Layer

Sulphur aerosols are known to contribute to the depletion of Earth’s ozone layer, combining in the atmosphere to produce SULFURIC ACID . Ozone depletion means lower absorption of the sun’s ultraviolet radiation, which among other effects will increase the risk of skin cancers and eye damage in humans.

Disruption of Natural Processes and Weather

One of the primary concerns is the effect that adding aerosols to the atmosphere will have on natural processes such as the hydrological cycle, atmospheric air circulation, and local weather events. These predictions have been borne out by computer models and simulations, with results including extreme weather events such as droughts, temperature fluctuations, storms and flooding increasing in both frequency and intensity."

For the non-Lizards and minions of the Underworld, I'd much rather see all of the money, time, and effort that would be wasted on this invested in Wave Power (they need it !) https://www.carnegiece.com/wave/ ...... unless you guys also plan to mine the Moon to the point where it flys apart or out of orbit - destroying the tides and the seasons in the process ....? :smoke:

Just as I have to seriously wonder whether you think about the stuff you read (and post). To ignorantly dismiss serious proposals by credentialed scientists on the basis of quick readings of popular summaries is the height of irresponsibility.

It's a nonsense that anyone with a shred of common sense would realise, to invest a second or a cent on so called 'solutions' that have deleterious side effects every bit as bad as the 'problem'.
(It's as dumb as nuclear power and intractable radioactive waste).

I mean ACID RAIN ? C'mon .... even you have to see the stupidity of that ....

As far as distribution by aircraft goes .... doubly stupid ...

Hence the suggestion for a globe covered in plutonium clouds - I reckon it will 'fly' ;) ..... whaddyathink? :cat:

Or perhaps we could clear the floodplain of concrete back to say (let's just pick a figure shall we :) 1 in 200 year flood levels, restore the wetlands, riparian vegetation, and get the ground cover over grazing (and cropping lands as appropriate) back up to 100% and get back to the business of building soil. Reconnect fragmented wilderness with ecologically functional vegetative corridors of rainforest, forest, and woodland as appropriate, and Bob's your Uncle ! (and a step up from Sam yes?). If you really want to leverage these gains then get rid of the military worldwide (try $1.7Trillion per year http://www.globalissues.org/article/75/world-military-spending ) - put some of that budget into getting wave power up and running ..... beautiful - yes?

You really don't get it, do you? Words, emotions, emojis. . .that's it for you, isn't it? And, of course, "common sense".

I'm afraid I'm just not on your level 3:) .... words are a pretty fundamental part of my (and global :king: ) communication. :smoke:

I note you haven't addressed any of even your 'own' facts presented. It's a great pity you are never wrong :brains: .... I have a hunch (is that an emotion? :h?: :) that you are missing fantastic learning opportunities ...... :cat:

Ughh ! (is that better? ;) )

Regenerative agriculture could save soil, water, and the climate.
https://newfoodeconomy.org/regenerative-agriculture-cover-crops-no-till-usda/
Pie in the sky, drop in the bucket, and as far as AGW Is concerned, too late and much much too small to have any effect beyond allowing the hippier sorts of first-worlders to feel good about themselves.

Just common sense. . ..
That's a silly dismissive response. Disappointing.
..... land use is a worldwide issue (and as you are fully aware - linked to population - even you've acknowledged that elephant many times ....)

Maybe do some research .... ? :cat:
Join the dots .... :brains:
Crunch some numbers (back of an envelope will do :)

Of course it’s dismissive since, like so many of your bloviations, it’s worthy of nothing more. And how about you “crunching some numbers”, taking account both of the projected effects of AGW and of the huge and growing numbers of third-worlders, many on the edge of subsistence. The first-world is not the Shire, you know, with benign forces protecting us from even thinking about the misery without. “Cultivating one’s own garden” simply isn’t enough under modern conditions (if it ever was).

Opportunity missed ..... pity. :-C

..... a seriously strange post - even by your standards ..... and you still haven't addressed any of the 'cons' (how apt ! :-O :) of the 'bright' ideas you posted - whatever ...... :cat:

I'll leave you in the culpable hands of the Frankenscientists -

I will also leave you on this note:

"Of all the enemies to public liberty war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes … known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few.… No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare."

James Madison, Political Observations, 1795

Oh. I dunno, ya think. . .?

That said, your own post is regrettably all too typical of your normal output, consisting entirely as it does of non-sequiturs and giggles. And you wonder why so few people take you seriously enough to reply to your maunderings!

..... and you still haven't addressed any of the 'cons' of the 'bright' ideas you posted....

Just as you haven’t addressed any of “pros”. The trick of course is to establish a balance between the two, something, I think, well beyond your capacity for connected thought

Of course, most scientists solicit funds for their research interests.

And I will leave you (and the others but mainly for your benefit) on this one—

Sounds like a reasonable request.

Though the peer reviewed scientific process should take care of the right result (ultimately, if you live long enough !), the issue is - as has been pointed out many times, it is inadvertenly subject to the 'psychosomatic' problems of group think, confirmation bias, funding and 'clique' distortions, unconscious publishing bias, and don't even get me started on gender bias ....

"We note that defenders of the climate consensus have already mounted a public campaign against the proposed commission. We find this opposition curious. If the defenders are confident that the science contained in official reports is robust, then they
should welcome a review that would finally put to rest the doubts that have been raised. On the other hand, their opposition could be taken as evidence that the scientific basis of the climate consensus is in fact highly suspect and cannot withstand critical review."

The Heartland Institute (https://www.heartland.org/news-opin...resident-trumps-climate-science-committee)—an excerpt.

“These faulty to even fraudulent global warming and climate change claims are the driving force behind the Green New Deal’s plans to terminate fossil fuel use, ban cattle raising, and eliminate cars and airplanes; force us to rely on wind and solar power that would blanket millions of acres with turbines and panels; and replace our free enterprise system with socialist policies that would take money from you – and give it to someone else”.

Scary. really, really scary. . ..
