Shoveler pr. Shelduck 6
Avocet 32 +4chicks. Didn't see the second brood of 1. LRP 6ads +3 chicks. Lapwing 7 or 8. Oystercatcher 2. Dunlin 2.
Sadly I have to report that there are now 2 foxes inside the fence. :-C
We will have another fence fixing session next Tuesday. It would appear that we are repairing the fence but the FOX keeps breaking through at another point. Hopefully the Trust will sort this out for next year.
Water levels are now dropping rapidly. The Trust set the level at 0.4 in keeping with the plan to extend the area of salt marsh. Unfortunately evaporation has now dropped the water by at least 3cm below this level. Hopefully the forecast for heavy rain next week will address the situation. The area on the southern section of the 2nd flash looks like wet mud , in fact it is water covered in a slime/ algal blooms but the birds are not going near it as it is very pungent. Not sure what is going on here??

From the Flashes Des reports:

Ringed Plover, Common Sandpiper, 3 young Little Ringed Plover, 6 young Avocet (4:2)

No sign of the Little Gull at the Moors Pool.

Time for one last big push for spring migration at Upton Warren with some promising conditions over the next week or so, starting tomorrow with NE winds and light rain all afternoon from midday. Friday could also be interesting with heavier rain albeit the winds is more northerly.

Still Little and Black Terns being reported inland together with late moving waders such as Turnstone, Temminck's Stint, Little Stint, Sanderling, Wood Sand and Red-necked Phalarope; also a few Bee-eater records nationally.

The weather is pushing through quicker than anticipated with rain from just before dawn until 9am and then 2pm until dusk - any one going down early tomorrow?
