Favourite bird species (1 Viewer)

David & Sarah; Thanks for sharing such fantastic photos, lucky enough to have seen a few of those.
The outrageous radiations that evolution has thrown out in rain-forest's is the main reason that I love spending even a little time in such awe inspiring places. I really hope I get the chance to go back to see a few more of these species - huge fan of pitta's and trogon's, but those BoP's are something else!
Thanks again, hope you are both well.

Agree - just love the Rainforest

Thanks Daniel. Yes we are both well if a little frustrated by only patch birding. We had trips to India, Nepal and Bhutan cancelled, and June trip to Sichuan is postponed probably until next May. Best hope for getting new birds and into the forest rests with a planned trip to Cuba in November - we are not looking to book anything else until the travel situation is clearer.

Like you we just love the rainforest. Even when the leeches and jiggers are bad.

Hope you are well and looking forward to your future trips

more of sunbirds, this time the Olive backed sunbird.
when i was in my hotel room in Bali, i heard what reminded me of the Nile-Valley sunbirds that live in my garden, and just like them it was around 11:00 am, wen to the garden and was not difficult for me to find the male on these beautiful flowers. the female was a bit harder to spot, as they are less noisy.

Antpittas

If woodpeckers were colourful and showy the Antpittas certainly are not!
Cryptic but with distinctive songs it is great to get a glimpse and until recently I had hardly any useable photos of this species.

Shown here are

Streak-chested Antpitta - Arenal, Costa Rica
Chestnut-capped Antpitta - Rio Blanco, Colombia
Yellow-breasted Antpitta - Mindo, Ecuador
Ochre-bellied Antpitta - Angel Paz, Ecuador
Rusty-breasted (SM) Antpitta - Santa Marta, Colombia
