This and That

Sometimes I feel like a big bird.
Other times I feel very small

For Tim O thanks for the company and the discussion about identifying certain birds in that light last night.
I took a pic of a bird just before you arrived which on scrutiny turned out to be a male teal with fully fledged markings just coming out of moult. Only the intensity of the colours was missing.

The bird that we were looking at on the left hand side from the East Hide windows bothered me because it was a female teal (ish) but with the wrong head colouring. On reflection and some work on the pic I reckon it was a male teal in an earlier stage of moult because the colour on the top of the head turned out to be adult male colouring.

As for that little bird on the right - which duck beginning with m has a wing colouring with blue in it? I learnt a lot last night.

On another note I found an immaculate shiny manual shutter release cable last night in the Moors carpark. I can only think someone is using film. Anyway I put it for safekeeping in the East Hide at the back of the holder with the reserve guides in. That way I hope its safe and won't disappear down any cracks.
Don't do new mobiles so please could somebody post this bit on any platform that you think the owner might see it. Thanks.
Phil E

PS There were 2 little egrets there seemingly ignoring one another until just before we left and all hell broke loose .Some amazing flying. Would put Top Gun pilots to shame! Who put his camera away?!

Just at the north moors pool and happened to catch this. Is this by chance an (immature?) Hobby? Seems to have a dragon fly in its talons
