How are you excluding Cirl Bunting?

Good question. Head appears strongly marked and bill quite two toned which would suggest Cirl and although the throat does appear yellowish I think I'd go for Cirl Bunting on this photo

Cirl for me too, not least that the location is out of range for Yellowhammer except as a scarce winter visitor.

Me too for Cirl. Doesn't have the look of a Yellowhammer, but I fail to tell why.....

I spent ages with Collins before deciding on Yellowhammer, face pattern is better for Yellwohammer?

I'm pretty sure I can see an olive toned upper tail covert, which would make it a cirl.

Hi there, I wouldn´t be able to differentiate the both species. But I would prefere Cirl So thanks to everybody who´s involved in the discussion! Great for me as well. It´s the second time that I saw a Cirl Bunting

Just realised what swayed me, the apparent yellowish edges to the primaries which is a Yellowhammer feature.
