Struggling with I.D. (1 Viewer)

This bird was at my garden feeder on 31/01/2010, Scotland. UK. Any suggestions? Could it be an escapee finch from an aviary? It flew away very energetically with bouncy flight. If it is an indoor aviary finch then it displayed no signs of hardship in the cold. You can get a decent look at it if you zoom in. Thanks.

Not an obvious escapee, almost looks like a leucistic chaffinch or similar

I had the same thought but then it would have to be a male in summer plumage and the pattern of black and white on the wings doesn't look quite right. I'm in the leucistic Chaffinch camp.

That crossed my mind but it has pink legs and a very light coloured bill and the bird is still a long way off from summer plumage. Great answers folks. Thanks a lot. Fantastic forum.
