Could someone verify the first two of these photos are Cooper's? And the third a Peregrine? Taken in southeast US last week.

Thanks,
KAC

Cooper's, Sharp-shinned, American Kestrel.

On 2, notice the streaking goes onto the belly, the wings are crooked forward, the tail is thin and with the outer feathers near equal to the central.

IMHO #2 is also a Cooper's. The imm. accipiters are quite easy if the undersides are well shown. The streaks on Cooper's are well separated, relatively fine and comma shaped, as in this bird. On a Sharpie they are bigger, splotchier and more diffuse. I think in this bird the wings crooked forward are because it's flapping, not soaring, and the central tail feathers can be worn. In fact, to me #s 1 and 2 look like the same bird. Are they, KAC?
