Long Island, mid August (1 Viewer)

Amy, Brit in Quebec.
Short notice, but just on the off chance anyone has any suggestions I thought I'd try!
I'm accompanying my partner on a work trip to Long Island next week, and have a couple of days free for birding.

I've done some ebird and google research, but if anyone has any favourite spots they'd like to share, please do! Thus far I'm thinking that I may head to the Wilderness area of Fire Island, or possibly Montauk.

Trying not to get too hung up on target species, that said:
A Black skimmer or two would be marvellous!
I have viewed many a 'piping plover nesting area sign' in Nova Scotia without ever seeing one.

Hiking is no problem, packed beaches to be avoided if possible.
Thanks all.

Trip was a success. Skimmers and P.Plover encounters that will stay with me a long time.

(Don't think I can delete a thread? So just wanted to close the request for help!).
