I think this is an Eastern Wood-pewee, but this is the only photo I got. Not very good with the light behind it, though. Didn't hear a call, which would have helped. Photo taken on 15th April near College Station in south Central Texas.

Phoebes have an all-black bill. I believe Eastern Wood Pewee is correct.

Yes you're correct! I was swayed (on my monitor) by an apparant creamy wash to the lower belly, which was almost certainly a light reflection from the leaves.

Thanks, guys! It was the color of the bill that made me think pewee. We’ve had a lot of northbound migrants coming through lately. We have a pair Eastern Phoebes that nest under our veranda every year, so I am very familiar that species.

I will enter the Eastern Wood-pewee, with the photo, into my eBird list for that day.
