Best Super Zoom for Macro (£250 Budget) (1 Viewer)

TR3K

More Human than Human
I'm looking to buy a super zoom in the next few days. I mostly want to use it for general wildlife & bird I.Ding but I also have a keen interest in macro photography so I'm looking to buy a camera that covers all my bases. My budget is £250 and I'm happy to buy used. I like the look of the Lumix FZ38 and the Fuji HS10. Any help is most appreciated.

I've used a FZ28 for the last 3 years and obtained very satisfactory results with it. As far as I've read, the FZ38 should be even faster focusing, along with other known improvements. But when it comes to macro photographing, you may already have seen this is one the features where Panny's are the best among all superzooms. And I can tell you the FZ28 really stands for that. Among the thousands of photos I have, my fellow watchers are always delighted with the macro pictures I take of flowers, insects and further tiny subjects I pick outdoors.

Attached a couple of reduced examples of what I've achieved with the macro function of the FZ28 (take into account that all these are tiny flowers indeed).

Is the Panasonic FZ38 an 18x optical zoom like the FZ28? I had the FZ18 and really liked it but I recently traded in for the Canon SX30IS with a whopping 35x optical zoom (35mm = 24-840mm) which is superb for birding and also takes brilliant macro. It's probably over your budget but I am certain it will be the last superzoom bridge camera that I buy - ever!
