Low lighting advice

Hello everyone. I am new here and not sure exactly where to post yet. My question is how do most of you cope with the lack of sunshine. My location is overcast much of the time and looking for tips on enjoying birding from my deck.

When the sun is out my 8x32se is fine. I prefer a porro and have been considering the 7x42 Habicht. Yes I am aware of the narrow field of view and stiff focuser. I remove my glasses when viewing. But I am not totally married to the idea and would like your advice.

What do you like for birding in poor lighting? Hand held.
