The Day of the Raptors (1 Viewer)

Hi Everyone! :hi:

A few days ago I was awe struck at the number of raptors about my area of the globe. In our front yard an Eastern Screech Owl (Otus asio) had the full attention of the robins, cardinals, grackles, sparrows and finches. They gave him NO rest!

On the way to work I saw two Red-Tailed Hawks (Buteo jamaicensis) were cruising the sky-way looking for breakfast. There were Turkey Vultures (Cathartes aura) galore soaring over head. In one area I counted 8 and farther down the road there were some solitary birds. I spotted a Merlin (Falco columbarius) eating someone while perched on a wire.

I also saw a Cooper's Hawk (Accipiter cooperii) on my return home.

It is a rare day that I don't see at least one hawk but to see so many raptors in one day was, well, !

That's the Ohio report for now. Kindest regards all!

Hi Chickadeedee I love raptors in general so will join Bill in being very jealous of you over there. I have started to watch the Baldeagles nesting on NWF webcam, wish I could see them in the flesh.
