Baby bird hit window -Help (1 Viewer)

Hi all.

First time poster, sorry for just jumping straight in without introductions. I’ve just had a baby bird hit my window, she was just laying upside down on the floor, but looks very much alive now I have picked it up.

My guess is that it tried to fly the nest in the tree across the road but failed.

Any advice on what to do/feed her? And what to do next? Also anyone able to identify? I’m in the south west UK if that helps.

Any help would be greatly appreciated right about now

Hi Sam and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators.

We have some general guidelines here for the care of injured and baby birds.

I'm not too sure from that picture, but it could be a young Starling.

It looks like its probably OK to release now. Please let us know how you get on.

Thank you for the reply.

That photo was taken shortly after I picked her off the ground, she wasn’t moving much and wouldn’t open her eyes.

I put her in a dark box for half an hour then heard her moving, so took her outside and after 5 minutes of sitting on my hand she flew away

Thanks again for the help, as much as I love birds I don’t know much and panicked.

I don't think that's a baby, looks like a female Blackcap.

I think I identified it as a common chiffchaff. Looks very alike.

It's quite grey, it has a brown cap which isn't so obvious in that light, female Blackcap.
