Mallorca 2018 (2 Viewers)

Viperine approx 70cm long at the Sa Roca hide, moved from left to right in front of the hide up onto the path and at one point thought it was going into the hide, that would have been interesting if the hide was full, but decided to go under right by the door. 24th march.
Steve.

First full day out. Tried S’Albufera, Can Curassa and the Bocquer. Can Curassa was really quiet with very few migrant birds about. Still nice to see corn bunting, spotless
Starling and w shrikes. Highlight from S’Albuera was a wood sandpiper which gave excellent views and the flamingos. The Bocquer had the usual cirl bunting and wryneck. C what tomorrow brings
!!

Cattle Egret at Can Cuarassa 26th march.
Weasel at Es Forcadet Salbufera, the far end of the reserve.
And another behind the rangers centre.
Another Viperine at Tucan, these 3 on the 28th march.

New hide

Seen several references to the new hide at the Albufereta - it looks really good. Where is it, and how do you access it please?

Stew

Llenaire, : group of 20 Bee-eaters through early morning, a semi distant Black Vulture, 3+ Stone curlews before 08.30.
1 dp Eleonoras over Hotel back in Puerto Pollensa.

I was fortunate enough to go to Cabrera this weekend with the local group of birders. Cabrera delivered. A stunning Collared Flycatcher entertained us for two days just metres in front of the picnic area, and was joined with what Dani Hinckley of our group correctly identified as a very rare (for Spain) Isabelline Wheatear. In total 69 species were seen or heard in two and half days, including Whinchats (20+), Whitethroats (20+), Garden (6+), Subalpine (6+), Wood (20+) and Willow Warblers (6+), Redstarts (30+), Pied Flycatchers (30+), and more. Few local and migrant raptors, a sparrowhawk, local pairs of osprey, peregrines and just arrived Eleonora's.

The hide can be accessed left through the small pine forest by the large observation tower and along a wall bordering the private property. On the way to the smaller observation platform. I am told access to the hide should be as discreet as possible as birds have not fully settled on the islands opposite and may abandon them if disturbed.
