Upton Warren (14 Viewers)

From the Moors Pool this morning Dave J reports:

2 second summer Med Gulls (chicks not seen but parents observed going to island), 2 Oystercatcher (+ 2 young), 10 Common Tern + 2 young (1:1), Gadwall (+ 4 young)

Sunday highlights… very young Reed Warbler calling for and being fed by the parents.
A busy bee and Tern were also viewed around the Moors pool.
The heat then had the better of me and lunch called.

Des - with the Oystercatcher, were the two young from the Broadmeadow and one newly hatched in Amy's Marsh (or the other way around)?

How many Common Tern chicks have hatched to date - is it just the initial 3?

Two Broadmeadow chicks and one Amy's Marsh.

I would say the current chicks are two of the. original three.

Mike W reports 12 Curlew in the Flashes roost this evening and a second summer Med Gull (presumably one of the breeding pair from the Moors). Also Redshank, Common Gull and Barwit still.

Red-Crested Pochard still at the Moors Pool as per Sue Hyde - can't remember many / any birds lasting into a third day.

Green Sand at the Flashes as per Gert

With reference to the Med Gulls, the evening of Sunday 18th June had 3 Adults (the breeding pair and Billy no mates) at the Flashes and a pair of second summer also. The second summer birds were displaying/pair bonding and I wondered if they were the Moors birds or a new pair?
